26 (twenty-six) color engravings, 1 for each letter of the alphabet, are represented in this portfolio. All depict prehistoric animals, and are bound accordion-style; it is entirely handmade by the artist. Titled on the cover as ABC, an inside title page refers to the portfolio as A Prehistoric ABC.
There is otherwise no text or story, other than the names of the animals listed, and the colophon; all handwritten by DeArmond. Not all copies have the outer slipcase (as shown below). There are black and white, unnumbered and unsigned, single prints that exist, with hand-written names by DeArmond. It is unknown if any were editioned, although it is likely some proofs were produced.
