Sweeping sheets of spring rain, "peaceful to watch," says Dale, inspired  "Rain Squalls."

A frequent happening in Southeastern Alaska is depicted in RAIN SQUALLS. In the spring the rain often comes in sweeping sheets and it will be raining here and farther off you can see that it is not raining, and even further away you can watch another squall sweeping in. The gulls sit on the water placidly ignoring the passing squalls. It's a very peaceful thing to watch on a gray afternoon – preferably from the cabin or pilothouse of a small boat.
